banana split with yogurt instead of ice cream

Breakfast Banana Splits (with yogurt)

Breakfast can be magical and fun if you change up your breakfast yogurt parfait to a breakfast banana split. Just a touch of chocolate and a cherry on top makes it feel like you’re eating dessert for breakfast without all the guilt!

While the traditional banana split has three scoops of ice cream nestled in between a banana halved lengthwise, there are so many variety of toppings that go with a “traditional” banana split. So we thought, why does it have to be ice cream? Use yogurt and any topping that satisfies your heart’s desire. Nuts, berries, honey, granola, crushed cookies, the sky is the limit. Just make sure that you limit your intake of processed foods to keep this a healthier banana split.

Health Benefits: Yogurt

Yogurt is no doubt a great source of calcium and Greek yogurt a great source of protein. However, Greek yogurt generally has about half the amount of calcium that regular yogurt has. It’s often hard for local Hawaii residents who were born and raised in Hawaii to get the recommended amount of calcium in their diets.

Three bowls of breakfast banana splits with vanilla yogurt

Mountain High Yoghurt is what I regularly buy for my family and you will absolutely love it. The low fat version has 20% of your daily calcium needs and 8 grams of protein. I use the unflavored version to replace sour cream in many different recipes, not just for breakfast. The best part is that the flavored version has less sugar than other mainstream brands. A win-win in my book. You’ll love it if you try it.
